How To Plan The Best Engagement Session Ever || Stevie Dee Photography
Planning your engagement session can seem like an overwhelming task, but it doesn’t have to be! We’re sharing a few tips to simplify the process and help you plan the best engagement session ever!
TIP #1: Complete the questionnaire
We email each client an engagement questionnaire that asks questions like how you met, hobbies you’re both interested in, the proposal, etc.. Knowing a little bit more about you as a couple helps us put together some of the details for your engagement session.
TIP #2: Treat yo self
For Her: Get a fresh haircut or color touch up and go for a mani/pedi! We like to do some closeups of hand holding and the ring…so it’s best to have fresh mani for photos! And, while we typically don’t photograph your feet, we’re throwing in the pedicure just because you deserve it girl!
For Him: Get a fresh haircut 2-3 days before your session and trim up the facial hair the day of the session.
TIP #3: Clean the ring!
As mentioned in tip #2 we like to do some close ups of the ring on your hand and maybe a few of the ring styled by itself. Getting a fresh clean on the ring will make it sparkle even more in your photos!
TIP #4: Plan your wardrobe
When picking your outfits make sure you consider the location, weather, wedding colors and overall style of your session. Engagement photos are often used for save the date cards or as decor around the reception so it looks best when subtle pops of your wedding colors are tossed into your engagement pics.
If you’re planning on two outfits a casual outfit and a slightly more formal outfit usually work well! Either way, your wardrobe should include a cohesive color palette of 2-3 different colors that compliment each other. Layers and accessories photograph beautifully and mixed and matched patterns do also!
Lastly, be sure to try on the clothing beforehand and make sure it fits well. Ill fitted clothing or clothing that isn’t flattering to your body type and figure will show in photos. We get the best results when couples look and feel their best, and choosing an outfit that makes you feel confident is key!
